VANUATU – Espiritu Santo
You won’t find brand name resorts or even good wifi here. However, you will find stunning beaches fringed with coconut trees, fresh locally grown produce, fantastic snorkelling, unique blue freshwater swimming holes and a fascinating WWII history.
We were on limited funds for this holiday so I chose to stay in a simple budget Bungalow at Lonnoc Beach for our time in Santo. It’s not far from the village of Port Olry and is about an hours drive from the main town of Luganville.
Electricity doesn’t make it this far down the island so facilities are limited to solar lighting and cold water showers. The locals are self sufficient with the few restaurants managing on a mix of solar power and generators.
Don’t let this put you off, the location is absolutely stunning and the locally grown and caught food is amazing!
If you require a bit more luxury, there are more accommodation options in the main town of Luganville.
